A defense lawyer has questioned the mental competency of a caregiver accused of murdering the man he was supposed to be caring for. 28-year-old Jordan Newton Moore is accused in the stabbing death of 87-year-old Thomas Anthony Cuneo. After Cuneo hadn’t been seen for several weeks, deputies did a welfare check at his home on Kaysie Rae Court in Shingletown and found him dead. He had suffered significant trauma and died of numerous stab wounds. It was learned that Moore, who was Cuneo’s live-in caregiver, also had not been seen for several weeks. Cuneo’s car was also missing. Moore was found by police in Monterey County. He’ll return to court September 9th after an evaluation by a court appointed doctor.
