Mobile Home Destroyed By Fire In Cottonwood, Crews Battle Small Blazes In Eastern Shasta County On Thursday

Fire destroyed a home in West Cottonwood Thursday morning. At around 7:30AM Cal-Fire and Cottonwood Fire crews arrived on Joanne Lane off Gas Point Road to find a double wide mobile home well involved in fire. While on scene, a quarter acre vegetation fire broke out very close by on Old Happy Valley Road. It started shortly before 8AM and was contained by 8:30AM.

The Ashpan Fire, which started Thursday afternoon off Highway 44 in the Hat Creek Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest was contained at 1.5 acres. It may have started from a campfire that hadn’t been properly extinguished.

The Point Fire off Highway 89 near Lake Britton in Eastern Shasta County started early Thursday afternoon and burned about 2.5 acres of mostly dry grasses and light brush.

A fire Thursday afternoon at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff burned about a quarter acres of vegetation and destroyed an outbuilding.
