The mother of an inmate who died in the Shasta County Jail in January of last year is suing the county. 27-year-old Juan Moreno of Redding was found unresponsive in his cell and he could not be revived. The lawsuit says Moreno was being treated for Schizophrenia and depression and that his mental state quickly deteriorated after he was placed in an isolation cell without proper monitoring. Moreno apparently committed suicide. His mother, Ana Arroyo Rodriguez, is seeking $35,000 in the suit. The Shasta County Board of Supervisors will discuss liability during closed session Tuesday.
