A motorcyclist was badly hurt when he was struck on the freeway in Tehama County Monday. At 9:44AM Southbound Interstate 5 traffic backed up quickly from the area of Sunset Hills Drive. The motorcyclist was apparently going close to 80 miles an hour and he was knocked to the pavement when a silver Chrysler merged into him as he was passing. The rider suffered major injuries to his left side and face and he was transported to a hospital. The southbound side of the freeway came to a stop until a little after 10 O’clock.
