A large spectacle will be seen at Redding Regional Airport next Friday, and the public is warned not to be alarmed at the large presence of emergency vehicles along with various fire and law enforcement personnel. It’ll be a “Mass Casualty Incident Training Exercise” that’s required by the Federal Aviation Administration every three years at commercial airports. It’ll simulate a disaster involving a mock-up aircraft prop. The idea is to identify potential issues under controlled conditions rather than during an actual emergency. Staging of equipment will begin on Wednesday and Thursday. Most of the operation will take place at the north end of the airfield near the Forest Service facility. The public is not invited to observe.
