A Mount Shasta City Police Officer apparently interrupted a rape that was about to occur. On Monday the officer saw an altercation between a man and a woman at a bus stop near Ray’s Shopping Center. Charles Edward Lambertsen the Third was allegedly trying to sexually assault the woman. He was booked into jail. Lambertsen had been arrested the previous evening for indecent exposure and booked into jail, but he returned to Mount Shasta City. Police believe there may be more victims.
