Owners Of Lassen Steakhouse Plan To Rebuild After Devastating Fire

A Tehama County landmark damaged by fire last week can be salvaged, according to the owners. The historic Lassen Steakhouse on Highway 99 in the Town of Vina caught fire on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. About 30% of the building was destroyed. It apparently started with old electrical wiring behind a soda machine. The structure was built in 1928 and the owners say the solid timbers used in construction saved the building from collapse. The restaurant had served 335 people on Thanksgiving Day. It’s not known when repairs will be complete and the place will reopen.
