A young Shasta County girls softball team is playing like champions. The Foothill Area Little League Junior All Star Softball Team based out of Palo Cedro won the Nor-Cal State Tournament, which earned them a spot at the West Region Little League Tournament in Tuscon, Arizona. They were undefeated in those four games, including a 12 to 3 victory in the championship game. That advanced them to the Little League Junior Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington. During the skills competition the team placed second, and Kylie Kenyon set a record in the home run derby sending 7 of 7 balls over the fence. The first World Series game was Sunday and the girls defeated Asia-Pacific. Monday’s game is at 1:30PM and can be seen on ESPN+. Foothill fans can follow the teams progress on Facebook.
