A man suffered serious burns after crashing his car at Sunset Hills Drive in Tehama County. At 1:20PM Wednesday afternoon a small black sedan left Southbound Interstate 5 and went about 40 feet down an embankment and then caught fire. Flames spread to dry grass and burned about a quarter acre. A passerby pulled the driver from the burning car at great risk to himself, but the driver suffered 3rd degree burns over much of his body and was taken to Mercy Hospital. Authorities apparently suspected intoxication and took a blood sample before the patient was transferred to the U.C. Davis Burn Center.
