A former Shasta County Supervisor is accusing the Sheriff of deceiving the taxpayers about his high salary. Patrick Jones alleges that Michael Johnson retired in 2022 as Sheriff, then was rehired in order to collect retirement in addition to his current salary. Jones says Johnson’s annual pay is $445,000. Jones claims he confirmed the information with Johnson, as well as the County Executive Officer. Jones made the assertions on the Sunday morning paid show “Poke the Hornet’s Nest” on KQMS.
