Traffic on Highway 299 in the Old Shasta area will be disrupted by a PG&E safety project that will eliminate some wildfire ignition risk. The utility is burying some power lines and strengthening some overhead lines. There will be one-way traffic control in effect weekdays starting at 7AM from Victoria Drive westward for three miles. Crews are trenching and boring along both shoulders of the highway. The work is being done through late October.
