On Tuesday the Redding Planning Commission will be asked to allow a project to go forward to build a new charter high school in East Redding. The California Heritage Youthbuild Academy is currently located at Airport and Rancho and has an enrollment of 120 students. Their new location would be at the east end of Industrial Street next to the Center of Hope apartments behind Lowes and behind the post office. A bridge will have to be built over little Churn Creek. The new high school would be housed by a nearly-37,000 square foot building including classrooms, offices, as dining area and a gymnasium. There would also be a soccer field and an outdoor basketball court. The Youthbuild Academy combines a high school education with workforce training opportunities. The Planning Commission meets at 4 O’clock Tuesday in the Council Chambers.
