A 27-year-old man is being held to answer to charges including murder from a fatal stabbing at a transitional living facility in North Redding on September 26th. The victim, 42-year-old Cy Jonathon Johnson, was stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife at Stability Solutions on Aruba Drive off Collyer. 27-year old Matthew Jacob Riddle was quickly apprehended by Redding Police who saw him running across Highway 299. Riddle and Johnson were apparently involved in a fight after riddle falsely accused Johnson of being a sex offender. After the fight, Riddle allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife, found Johnson and stabbed him multiple times. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Riddle leaving the facility after the stabbing and then returning to mock Johnson as he was being given first aid by other residents. Riddle had a preliminary hearing last week and returns to court December 4th.
