Public Meeting Will Be Held On Installation Of Automated License Plate Readers

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office will hold a community meeting to share more details about the upcoming installation of automated license plate readers. The system is a network of cameras that scan license plates and track the movements of vehicles that are being investigated. Officials say the system can be helpful in solving AMBER Alerts, Silver alerts, missing persons, and stolen cars. They say it will also be used for any general crimes. Questions and comments will be heard at a meeting next Monday starting at 5 O’clock in the Shasta Lake City Council Chambers on Red Bluff Street.
