Ranch Owner Will Use Meat Donation To Honor Homeless Man Who Graduate From Mission’s Discipleship Program

A donation of meat to the Good News Rescue Mission is being done to honor a story of redemption. Dylan Meese graduated from the mission’s discipleship program a week ago. A little over a year ago Dylan was homeless, camping along the Sacramento River below Devine Restaurant, formerly “View 202”. Restaurant owner Kenny Elwood approached the camp and offered to pay Dylan to pick up trash along the riverside. Dylan accepted the offer, and eventually recruited two other homeless men to help. Kenny became friends with Dylan and started urging him to go to rehab and rebuild his life, even giving him an electric bike so he could travel back and forth to the rescue mission. With Kenny’s encouragement, Dylan kept improving himself and reconnected with his son, who just had his first birthday. Dylan is planning to attend Shasta College and get a heavy equipment operator certificate. Kenny also owns Elwood Ranch, and Friday he’ll present a gift of 200 Pounds of beef to the rescue mission in Dylan’s honor.
