A harsh reminder arrived just in time near Downtown Redding with a pre-4th of July blaze sparked by illegal fireworks. About One O’clock Sunday morning, Redding Fire Department responded to an area off Magnolia Street near Tehama and Butte Streets for a fire immediately threatening homes. It burned some fences, but crews prevented damage to any homes. Redding Fire Investigators say it was started by fireworks, all of which are illegal in Shasta County.
