Redding City Clerk Sharlene Tipton was left off the ballots sent to voters, and if a special election is deemed necessary to correct the error, Redding will want Shasta County to pay for it. Tipton is running unopposed in the race for her office, but was still supposed to be included on the ballot. Mayor Mike Littau says that the county has always sent a draft of the ballot to the city for review prior to the final printing, but they failed to do so this time so the responsibility lands squarely with the county.
