Some people are scratching their heads about a large campaign contribution made to Kevin Crye on the day of the election. Public disclosure records show that Redding Rancheria made the maximum allowed donation of $5,900 to the First District County Supervisor on June 2nd. The tribe apparently endorsed both Crye and his opponent, Erin Resner, but only Crye asked them for a donation. The only other candidate that got the Rancheria’s financial backing was Chris Kelstrom, but he received his payment in March. Shasta Scout says Crye’s campaign amassed more than $135,000 which included a $50,000 loan to himself, but he only spent around $25,000 as of mid-May, leaving over $112,000 unspent.
