Mosquitoes are biting early this year, according to Shasta Mosquito and Vector Control. Among the most aggressive and earliest to arrive are the Western Treehole Mosquito. They require very little water to breed, and are common in clogged gutters and small holes in trees. They don’t carry diseases to humans, but they can be carriers of Canine Heartworm. Residents are urged to drain all standing water in their yards, and serious problems can be reported to 365-3768 or shastamosquito.org. Measures may include planting Mosquito Fish.
