Erin Resner, Mike Gallagher and Joanna Francescut have widened their lead in their respective Shasta County races after elections officials posted fresh vote counts from the June 2nd Primary after almost two days. Resner, a Redding councilwoman, is challenging Supervisor Kevin Crye in District One, while Gallagher is an Anderson councilman challenging Supervisor Chris Kelstrom in District Five. If the results continue to hold for Resner, she could win the seat outright. Gallagher would need to sustain a more than 50% vote support to also win the seat outright. Francescut, the former interim County Clerk and Elections Chief, launched a campaign for the seat against Clerk and Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis shortly after he terminated her employment. Her lead over Curtis is more than 16 points. Measure B, which would mandate voter ID and other rules that defy state and federal voting laws, continued to pass. The new wave of results came nearly 39 hours after polls closed and the Elections Office provided early results from all precincts. Workers wrapped up counts the first night after 3:30AM following delays and a power outage. Curtis says he expects to wrap up counting next week.
