A man from Madera County was arrested after struggling with store security at JCPenney Sunday afternoon. 34-year-old Ivan Martinez-Chavarin reportedly filled a shopping cart with around $700 worth of merchandise and tried to wheel it out through an employees-only warehouse area. When confronted, security personnel say he tried to push past them and, after a struggle, he was handcuffed until police arrived. He allegedly had a sling-style bag across his chest that contained a loaded 45 caliber revolver. The gun had not been brandished or seen during the struggle. Martinez-Chavarin had a felony warrant for domestic battery in Madera County.
