RPD Will Conduct DUI Checkpoint Thursday Evening

Redding Police will hold a DUI checkpoint somewhere in the Redding City Limits Thursday between the hours of 5PM and Midnight. Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests. During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The Redding Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just a result of consuming alcohol. Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may also impair a driver’s ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. While medicinal and recreational Marijuana is legal, driving under the influence of Marijuana is not legal. Drivers charged with DUI and convicted face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended driver’s license.
