Shasta County Health and Human Services says people have been getting scammed by callers claiming to be with the California Department of Public Health. They’ve been asking people to verify personal information for prescriptions and to disclose Social Security Numbers and credit card information. This would never be done over the phone. Anyone who gets such a call should hang up and call the CDPH at 916-558-1784, and call the police as well.
