There’s an email scam hitting a lot of local residents and businesses that claims to be from the County Assessor’s Office. The email says it contains business personal property tax documents that can be viewed through a so-called “secure document portal”. This link absolutely should not be clicked. The Shasta County Assessor-Recorder would never send or request any tax documents or confidential information through unsolicited emails. Anyone who receives such a message should contact the office directly.
