The woman accused of starting the 2021 Fawn Fire north of Redding was in court for a brief appearance Monday, but her settlement conference was delayed until later this month. The Fawn Fire burned 8600 acres, destroyed 185 buildings, and damaged 26 others. Alexandra Souverneva is accused of starting the fire when she tried to remove bear urine from her drinking water, by boiling it. Many victims of the fire who lost their homes to the fire were also in attendance. Souverneva’s bail was posted in 2022.
