For the 10th year, Shasta County Child Support Services is collecting backpacks and school supplies for local kids. Last year the agency was able to supply backpacks loaded with supplies to 500 local students. This year they’re hoping to reach their goal of at least 600 as they try to help families along a path toward self-sufficiency. New backpacks, school supplies and monetary donations will be accepted through July 17th at the Child Support Services Building on Park Marina Drive, the District Attorneys Office on West Street, and many other locations that can be seen on the KQMS Facebook Page. The giveaway will take place as a drive-through event in the child support parking lot at Park Marina and Locust Street starting at 9AM.
