Shasta County District Attorney Kicks Off Annual Denim Drive

The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office has kicked off their annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month Denim Drive. New jeans and other denim clothing items are being collected to donate to survivors of sexual violence through “One Safe Place”, Shasta County’s domestic violence shelter. The jeans drive is done annually to bring attention to a notorious Italian Supreme Court case in which the justices ruled that a rape victim must have helped her assailant undress her because her pants were so tight, therefore implying consent. Donated items can be dropped off through April 24th. Collection bins are located inside the DA’s Office on West Street and at the Tractor Supply on Hilltop Drive.
