A lot more ballots have been counted by the Shasta County Elections Office since the last update. The department website now shows the number of ballots to be nearly 57,000. The Secretary of State’s website shows the same number, and indicated that just over 5,700 ballots remain to be tabulated. The Measure A sales tax initiative for the City of Redding failed by 65% to 35%, while the local vote on the statewide Proposition 50 redistricting initiative showed 71% opposed. Statewide numbers show it winning by 64%.
