Shasta County Fire Safe Council Offers Free Chipping Program To Reduce Wildfire Risk

Everyone should clear defensible space around their homes, which can leave large piles of wood waste. A great way to reduce the mass of that waste is by chipping. The Shasta County Fire Safe Council has a free vegetation chipping program available to residents. The free chipping days rotate through the county over the course of the year. January is the month for Southwestern Shasta County, including Igo, Happy Valley, and Anderson. A map of scheduled months and details of using the service can be found at chipperday.com/shastafs.
