Shasta County’s Administrative Office has issued another terse statement concerning Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis, and welcoming any state and federal investigations into the County Elections Department. It points out that Curtis certified the June Primary Election, but then made allegations questioning the validity of that election. He has accused some of his employees of illegally accessing and altering election reports and other documents. The county statement calls these claims unproven and frivolous, but invites the California Secretary of State, the State Attorney General’s Office, the FBI or any other authorized agency to look into the Elections Office. The county says despite what Curtis claims, no effort is being made to restrict his access to information. However, county policy requires that videos, photos and documents must have employees names and images redacted and blurred. The statement says that Curtis was appointed to increase transparency and trust in elections, but that he has failed significantly in his core responsibilities.
