Another Shasta County jail inmate has died. At 8:45AM Thursday morning jail staff requested that 56-year-old Jason Scott Driscoll be transported to a hospital due to a medical condition. He was escorted by correctional deputies to a hospital and it was determined that his condition outweighed the necessity to remain in custody, so he was released to be admitted to the hospital. At 6:15PM that evening the hospital notified the jail that Driscoll had died from natural causes. An autopsy is scheduled. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and Redding Police are investigating. The death of another inmate last Sunday is still under investigation.
