Shasta County Probation Department has a new tool to help probationers meet their conditioners. A state grant of $280,000 has been used for a mobile probation vehicle, which is apparently needed for the geographic challenges faced by many of the people the department serves. 31% of them live outside the three incorporated Cities of Redding, Anderson and Shasta Lake. Also, an estimated 20% of probationers are homeless. The large new van is equipped with workstations, treatments capabilities and meeting space. Bringing services to underserved areas is designed to increase compliance with supervised release.
