Shasta County’s November election results have been sent to the Secretary of State’s Office for certification. The final tally showed 65,917 registered voters had cast a ballot. That’s a turnout of 56.5%. A number of processes during this election were done after their deadlines, including the first report to the State Elections Office and the 1% manual sample count. Registrar Clint Curtis has repeatedly claimed that the proper procedure was not followed in previous administrations. He also has implied that the previous security measures in place to protect ballots actually facilitated corruption and ballot tampering, of which there has never been any evidence. Former Assistant Registrar Joanna Francescut will be challenging the appointed Registrar Clint Curtis next June.
