Some real bargains on tax-defaulted properties can be had during an online auction by the Shasta County Tax Collector’s Office. The starting minimum bid for each property will be set at the amount of taxes, penalties and other costs that are owed to the county. The highest bid received for a property at close of auction is the winner. Such properties used to be liquidated by live auction until just a few years ago, but it’s now a strictly online process. The auction will take place February 27th at bid4assets.com/shasta. That’s also where available properties can be viewed, or a list of parcels can be picked up from the Tax Collectors Office at 1450 Court Street, room 227.
