The Undersheriff for Shasta County has retired. Brian Jackson was sworn in by Sheriff Michael Johnson to serve as his number two in June of 2022 following the retirement of Undersheriff Jason Barnhart. Jackson grew up in Cottonwood and when he attended law enforcement academy he graduated at the top of his class. He’s served in many roles over the course of his 27 years in law enforcement, including 10 years in the Major Crimes Unit. The new Undersheriff will be Gene Randall.
