Siskiyou County Wont Move Forward With Flock Cameras Citing Privacy Concerns

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office has decided not to go ahead with a network of automated license plate reader cameras. The “Flock” cameras had been approved last year by the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors, but after privacy concerns were raised by community members, Sheriff Jeremiah Larue says he’s made the decision not to go ahead with the implementation. Many other communities, including Shasta County, have been using networks of the cameras to track and apprehend wanted subjects and stolen cars. Many have objected because the data gathered is not limited to law breakers.
