A 21-year-old woman is trying to recover from injuries suffered in a head on crash that killed four of her closest friends, including her boyfriend, in Trinity County last Saturday evening. The CHP says a little before 7 O’clock on Highway 299 between Big Bar and Del Loma a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed over the center line on a curve and collided head-on with a Chevy Impala. Four of the five occupants of the Impala were declared dead at the scene. 21-year-old Julianna Jarvis was a passenger between two others in the middle of the backseat and was not wearing a seatbelt. She was the sole survivor in the Impala, and was trapped and fully conscious for about an hour before rescue personnel were able to extricate her and get her onto a medical helicopter. Julianna, who has a 6-month-old baby, remains at UC Davis Medical Center, where she’s undergone multiple surgeries. A GoFundMe Account is collecting donations to help with medical expenses. The Jeep Driver was also seriously injured, but survived. The CHP initially said they suspected alcohol of being a factor, but the man has apparently not been arrested.
