The City of Redding has decided it will need to hold a special election to fill an office with only one candidate. Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis failed to include the Redding City Clerk Race on the ballot. Although Sharlene Tipton is running unopposed, the law requires her inclusion. The special election will be held March 2nd. It’s still unclear who will pay the costs of the election, estimated at around $100,000.
