State Budget Cuts Funding For Wolf Programs

The final state budget had a Million Dollars cut from it that Governor Newsom had requested for wolf programs. That includes funding to reimburse ranchers for livestock killed by wolves, and funding for Fish and Wildlife staff to make the inspections required to issue those reimbursements. Assemblywoman Heather Hadwick will be joined by ranchers, sheriffs and others in front of the State Capitol Tuesday as she demands restoration of the funding. She’s also pushing for more non-lethal methods of scaring wolves away from livestock.
