Supervisors Approve Nearly 132K In Funding For The Upcoming Special Election

Shasta County Supervisors voted 4-1 to give Shasta County’s top election official the money he says he needs to test a prototype for processing and counting ballots for the upcoming November Special Election. Clint Curtis said during Tuesday’s board meeting that he will be able to count the ballots cast on election night within three hours with the six Hart Intercivic tabulators he will employ. The Elections Department will still have to count votes that arrive after Election Day. The almost $132, 000 came from a budget amendment that needed four votes to pass. Supervisor Allen Long was the only no vote.
