As expected, some strong opinions were shown Tuesday about a proposed appointment to the Shasta County Citizens Elections Advisory Commission. District 2 Supervisor Tim Harman wanted to appoint Nathan “Blaze” Pinkney, who has been a polarizing figure in local politics. Garman said that if Pinkney does not behave respectfully on the commission, he’ll remove him. He also said that if Joanna Francescut had been appointed Registrar of Voters, he would not have made a recommendation for the commission at all. The appointment failed on a 3 to 2 vote, leaving just 3 members on the 5 member commission.
