Dozens of protesters picketed in front of the Shasta County Administration Building on Court Street to show their distaste for a 3 to 2 decision last week by the Board of Supervisors not to censure Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis for his treatment of Elections Office employees. Around 50 people gathered Tuesday as supervisors had a meeting inside.
During closed session Tuesday, Shasta County Supervisors voted to represent employees if they’re included in a defamation lawsuit that Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis says he’ll file. Support Services Director Monica Fugitt sent a message to all county employees reaffirming a commitment to a safe work environment where “discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or threats will not be tolerated.” Fugitt encouraged staff to report threats or acts of violence to law enforcement.
