Three Stores Fail Test in Underage Decoy Alcohol Sting

Redding Police ran a sting operation Monday targeting retail stores for alcohol sales to minors. An underage decoy attempted to buy booze without an ID at various licensed retailers. The purchase was successful at three stores: Clear Creek Market, Westside Market and Gas-4-Less on Pine Street. In each case the clerk was cited. The penalty is a minimum fine of $250 and up to 32 hours community service for a first violation. The store may be punished as well.
