Piles of cars went up in flames in a huge fire at a towing and wrecking business in the Town of Yreka Friday morning. The Yreka Fire Department was assisted by Siskiyou Cal Fire crews as they battled a stubborn fire at Bruce’s Towing on Greenhorn Road. Area residents were told to take shelter in their homes as a thick black noxious column of smoke could be seen for miles. The fire damaged a total of 53 vehicles. The cause is under investigation. A lightning storm passed over the area the night before.
