A shopping cart caught fire at an abandoned motel and restaurant at Park Marina Drive Tuesday evening. At about 7:30PM the Redding Police received a report of a structure fire at the building formerly known as the Budget River Inn, which has been closed for more than a decade. Authorities responded to the scene and found a shopping cart, located inside the restaurant, on fire. Firefighters were able to put out the fire, although it nearly spread to the rest of the building. According to Redding Police, two homeless were inside the building and admitted to starting the fire. As a result, they were arrested. Redding Police added that one of them had an outstanding warrant.
