Two arrests were made by Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies during a sobriety checkpoint Saturday night. 448 vehicles passed through the checkpoint on Highway 273 at Happy Valley Road. Deputies checked for valid drivers licenses and screened for signs of impairment. 31 drivers were detained for further evaluation, 9 field sobriety checks were done and two people were arrested for driving under the influence. Ten drivers were given citations, including for driving with no license or a suspended license. The checkpoint was funded by the California Cannabis Tax Fund.
