Nine outstanding classified school employees have been honored statewide by State Department of Education Superintendent Tony Thurmond, and two of the nine work in Shasta County. Classified employees are not teachers, but other school employees that are essential to the process. There were 141 nominations statewide. The chosen employees included Millville Elementary School custodian Albert Macias and Foothill High School Associated Student Body Clerk Vanessa Bennett. The honorees were recognized during a ceremony in Sacramento last week.
