Public workshops will be held Thursday by Redding Electric Utility as they try to educate the public on the need for a substantial rate increase 18%. The proposal is for four consecutive years of 4.5% rate hikes. REU says it’s necessary because of a rise in power supply costs at the Redding Power Plant, investments in infrastructure and regulatory mandates. Two public workshops on the rate boost will be held Tuesday at Noon and 5PM at the City Hall Community Room. A public hearing will be held at the City Council Meeting next Tuesday.
