Update: Authorities Say Chico Library Shooter Was Motivated By Columbine High School Attack

Details have been released about a deadly shooting inside the Butte County Library in Chico on Monday. Just after 5 O’clock 18-year-old Bradley Scott Sayer of Chico allegedly walked into the library with a shotgun and opened fire, shooting a total of 8 rounds. Two men were killed. They’re identified as 74-year-old Robert Johnson of Orland and 46-year-old Jacob “Cody” Hull. A juvenile girl was injured and hospitalized. As Chico Police Officers arrived Sayer fled out a back door and was taken into custody. Police say he didn’t know any of the victims and was motivated by wanting to commit a Columbine-style massacre. Sayer was apparently obsessed with the 1999 mass shooting at a Colorado high school. He was wearing a T-shirt with “natural selection” written on it, just as one of the Columbine shooters did.
