Update: City Council Agrees To Fund Redding Civic For 4 Months

The Redding City Council has agreed to provide funding, at least on a temporary basis, to keep the Redding Civic Auditorium operating. Advance Redding has been managing the facility for 14 years but it became difficult to make ends meet since the departure of the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministries. Last year the City Council granted them the deferred maintenance account of $675,000 and suspended rent payments. Advance Redding Manager Julie Dyar says the operating cost of the civic is around $433,000 monthly. Tuesday night the city granted their request for $116,000 a month, but only for 4 months. City staff is exploring options for what to do after June.
